An iconic pair of 'Lady' armchairs designed by Marco Zanuso in the 1950s, featuring sculptural enveloping forms, integrated reclining functionality, and textured turquoise-green upholstery atop slender dark metal legs.
A rare and celebrated pair of 'Lady' armchairs designed by Marco Zanuso, standing as a true milestone of mid-century Italian design. Developed in the 1950s, this model revolutionised upholstered seating by moving away from traditional bulky frames towards foam rubber and cantilevered ergonomics, a breakthrough that earned it the Gold Medal at the 1951 Milan Triennale. This matched pair showcases the quintessential organic silhouette with sweeping, protective armrests and a high backrest designed for exceptional lounge comfort. Notably equipped with functional reclining mechanisms and extendable footrests, they combine striking sculptural presence with versatile relaxation. Upholstered in a rich, textured fabric featuring a geometric motif in a deep turquoise-green tone, the chairs are supported by slender black-finished metal legs that lend visual lightness to their generous volumes. Preserved in very good vintage condition with sturdy frames and fully operational mechanisms, they exhibit only minor age-appropriate wear.
