An exceptional and rare vintage Safari armchair, designed by Ecuadorian modernist Ángel Pazmiño for Muebles de Estilo during the 1960s. The expressive, architectural frame is masterfully crafted from solid rosewood, showcasing a deep, richly figured grain. The seat and backrest consist of heavy black natural leather, suspended securely via integrated leather strapping. Key details include sculptural scroll armrests and a clever knock-down construction held together by traditional wooden dowels, highlighting the maker's focus on both craft and utility. Fusing brutalist artisan handwork with mid-century lines, this piece commands attention as a statement lounge chair for a refined living room, study, or library. Condition-wise, the solid wood frame is sturdy and sound, bearing honest signs of age and gentle wear. The black leather displays a wonderful vintage patina with authentic surface character and scuffs consistent with decades of history. Four chairs are available in total; priced individually with set options upon request.
