An exquisite and rare set of four original antique bentwood chairs by Gebrüder Thonet, corresponding to the historical catalogue model Sessel Nr. 36 from early 20th-century Vienna. Masterfully crafted from steam-bent beech, the design showcases graceful continuous lines, soaring high-backed frames, and delicately turned front legs that epitomize the pioneering craftsmanship of Viennese furniture design. Originally produced during the 1900s to 1920s, this matching set retains its authentic character, with one chair still bearing the original paper manufacturer label reading 'THONET WIEN' beneath the seat rail. While the model was traditionally made with woven cane, this set features light patterned fabric upholstery to both the seats and backrests, offering a refined aesthetic and comfortable seating. Preserved in good antique condition commensurate with age, the chairs display a rich, warm patina to the dark-toned bentwood frames. They make an exceptional statement for a classic dining room, an executive study, or as an esteemed addition to a collection of early modern Viennese design.
