Price on request

Exquisite set of six 'Willow 2' (Model 804) dining chairs designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and produced by Alivar in Italy during the 1980s. Featuring iconic soaring ladder backs in black-lacquered ash and woven rush seats, sourced directly from a private Italian museum collection.

An exceptional set of six 'Willow 2' dining chairs, Model 804, originally conceived by renowned Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow. Produced in Italy by Alivar during the 1980s as part of their modernist classics collection, this matching suite exemplifies Mackintosh's pioneering contributions to the Arts and Crafts movement and early modernism. Crafted with solid ash frames finished in a striking deep black lacquer, the chairs are defined by their dramatic, exceptionally tall lattice backrests that create a commanding architectural silhouette. The seats feature traditional natural woven rush, offering a rich textural contrast to the precise geometric lines of the dark frames. Acquired directly from the private collection of the Italian Museo della Sedia (Chair Museum), this rare complete set remains in good vintage condition with honest, gentle patination reflective of its provenance and history. An extraordinary statement collection suited for a refined dining room, contemporary apartment, or design gallery setting.
