Rare 1980s La Vuelta series pieces by Perry King & Santiago Miranda for Akaba. Sourced from a private design collection, this postmodern set features witty cycling-inspired motifs, rich wood-grain textures, and sleek chromed steel.

An exceptionally rare pair of items from the iconic La Vuelta series, designed by Perry King and Santiago Miranda for the Spanish manufacturer Akaba during the 1980s. Sourced directly from a private museum collection dedicated to the history of seating and industrial design, these pieces brilliantly capture the playful geometry and irreverent spirit of European postmodernism and the Memphis aesthetic. The series draws a clever conceptual and structural link to cycling, most notably incorporating bicycle fork motifs into the legs—a witty nod to the famous Vuelta a España race. The offering includes a compact desk featuring an expressive curved black panel with striking chromed supports, alongside a matching four-drawer chest complete with an original metal document organizer. Crafted from wood with a decorative grain finish, painted metal, chromed steel, and faux leather details, these items display a sophisticated contrast of textures and tones. Preserved in good vintage condition with honest signs of age and minor surface wear to the metal elements, they represent fantastic collector's items for discerning interiors, studies, or galleries.
